I’m a travel pro – 6 things I check in every hotel to make sure my room’s been properly cleaned
EVEN with today’s strict cleaning measures, hotel rooms can often be dirtier than they appear.
Throw out that ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your next hotel stay, because there are areas of your room that may need extra attention.
TikTok user Neat Caroline shared the six things she checks when entering any hotel room.
The first area Caroline examines to ensure it has been cleaned thoroughly is the grout between the bathroom tiles.
The TikToker ensures the tiles are mold-free before using the facilities.
Her second priority is to make sure the coffee cups and glasses are clean.
Even if she can’t see any visible smudges or dust, Caroline takes the extra precaution of rinsing these items under hot water.
She also checks the inside of the kettle for any signs of rust or scaling.
Caroline also recommended moving random objects in your room to check for dust.
“Swipe with a damp tissue, to ensure the floor is dirt-free,” she advised her followers.
Caroline also suggested removing the bed runners from the base of your beds as she said they are not cleaned regularly.
One viewer took to the comments section to share their knowledge of hotel housekeeping methods.
“I was a supervisor in housekeeping. We used chlorine for the drains but never ever have I cleaned or check-listed the grouts in any hotel I worked for,” they said.
