American Express Launches New ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ Option On Flights
If you’re an American Express cardholder, you’re in luck. Amex customers are now able to cancel flights for any reason, making travel less stressful.
Here’s How It Works
When booking a flight through Amex Travel, U.S. cardholders are able to cancel flights, no matter the reason. Travelers will receive a reimbursement of up to 75% of the nonrefundable flight costs.
According to it’s site, “Trip Cancel Guard is in effect until you cancel your benefit, submit a request for reimbursement on a canceled flight, or you reach your benefit end date.”
The new polocy, Trip Cancel Guard, requires customers to cancel at least 48 hours before their flight’s departure date.
Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel says in a statement, “People are eager to travel, and as demand increases, there is a greater need to plan ahead.” Hendley goes on to say, “With ‘Trip Cancel Guard,’ we’re continuing to back our customers by giving them the value we know they want, along with the confidence to book flights with the flexibility to cancel for any reason if their plans change.”
Although Trip Cancel Guard applies to all American Express cardholders, Platinum cardholders also will receive new travel benefits such as a $200 hotel credit, free access to over 1,300 airport lounders globally, and a $179 credit to color an annual Clear membership.
Travelers can purchase American Express Travel Insurance if they aren’t Amex cardholders.
Customers will not recieve reimbursements on trips that have been completed.
