The Most Romantic Places In Santa Barbara

If you’re visiting Santa Barbara with a significant other, you will be hard-pressed to find any spot that isn’t perfect for lovers. From picturesque walks along the beach to intimate restaurants serving local wines, you’ll find plenty of intrigue here. But for those who really want to make the next trip extra special, here’s our guide to the most romantic places in SB:

HENDRY’S BEACH

Every beach in Santa Barbara is beautiful, but Hendry’s is particularly great because it can take you from the bluffs at sunset to the patio of Boathouse for cocktails in a matter of minutes. Plan an entire afternoon here and be sure to check out the Wilcox park for stunning views, walk barefoot in the sand, and finish the day with a romantic dinner for two. More active couples can also go for long runs on the dog-friendly beach or try surfing when the swell is up!

STELLA MARE’S

Stella Mare’s is easily one of the most romantic restaurants in the city; from the French menu to its location right on the edge of the Bird Refuge, every night here is magical. Make a reservation for two in the stunning glass conservatory dining room and enjoy seasonal country bistro cuisine. If you dine on Wednesdays, enjoy live jazz with The George Mamalakis Trio, starting at 7 pm.

LIZARD’S MOUTH

Lizard’s Mouth, located a few miles off Highway 154 on West Camino Cielo Road, is a hugely popular spot amongst Santa Barbara locals for its incredible views. The trail is not so much a hike as it is a quick ¼ mile walk until you reach the outcropping. Perfect for exploring or just laying down a blanket to watch the sunset, the area is expansive and totally romantic. It is also an excellent place to take pictures, so don’t forget your camera!

ZAYTOON

Zaytoon restaurant in Downtown Santa Barbara boasts not only delicious Lebanese cuisine, but also the best patio in town. Complete with twinkle lights, personal firepits, hanging ivy and live music and dancing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the atmosphere here is intoxicating. Ideal for an evening date, we recommend making a reservation to secure a table with a fire and ordering one of the dishes to share with your loved one

SUNSTONE WINERY

Sunstone Winery, located in Santa Ynez, is a gorgeous spot to spend an afternoon with the one you love. First, make the beautiful drive up San Marco Pass to arrive at the organic vineyard retreat and enjoy tastings from 11am-6pm daily. There are several locations to enjoy your flight of wine, but we recommend starting at the stone barrel-aging caves to set the mood. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch as well and hang out in the French-style courtyards!
