Travel + Leisure’s top California resorts include three Bay Area gems
Just about every year Travel + Leisure’s World’s Greatest Awards survey asks audience to weigh in on their beloved lodges, cruises, resorts and additional. The effects contain a “100 ideal lodges in the globe” checklist that incorporates every continent — conserve for Antarctica, a location not just known for its 4-star resorts — as well as a California-centric listing of the best 15 resorts.
The latter are clustered around some of the Golden State’s most well-known locations — the Pacific coast, wine region and that desert oasis, Palm Springs. Santa Barbara’s San Ysidro Ranch, a 550-acre expanse of bungalows, olive groves and gardens favored by a who’s who of stars and politicos, tops the record. Mendocino’s Craftsman-style Brewery Gulch Inn comes in at No. 7, and Menlo Park’s Rosewood Sand Hill usually takes honors in the No. 12 location. And Sonoma and Napa created the record with MacArthur Place and Auberge du Soleil, respectively.
